Tuberculosis is an infection caused by a bacteria. This bacteria can infect your lungs and other parts of your body.

Not everyone with TB becomes sick. Some people develop what we call Latent TB infection (LTBI) where the body’s immune systems keeps the infection inactive. Others get symptoms like fever, cough, weight loss, and night sweats. This is called Active TB disease. Both LTIB and active TB disease can be treated with antibiotics.
