Kern County ranks #1 and #4 for Chlamydia and Gonorrhea rates, respectively, in California. The majority of Chlamydia infections is asymptomatic and goes undetected and untreated. Program staff conducts disease investigations and identification of contacts to the disease. Contacts are referred for evaluation and treatment. Staff is also involved in disease surveillance activities and health education regarding Sexually Transmitted Infections.
If you think you may have symptoms or may have been exposed to a Sexually Transmitted Infection, call the Health Clinic in Bakersfield or Ridgecrest. The Clinic offers low-cost, high quality care Monday – Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. An appointment is recommended but walk-ins are accepted. Confidentiality is strictly observed for all patients 12 and older. Medi-Cal is accepted.
