Michael V. Lancaster, PhD, ABB(HCLD), Laboratory Director, Kern County Department of Public Health. Dr. Lancaster holds a PhD in microbiology from the University of
Missouri, is a board certified high complexity laboratory director by the American Board of Bioanalysts, and is licensed by the state of California as a Public
Health Microbiologist and as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist.
Dr. Lancaster was Laboratory Director for Imperial County Public Health department from 2003 to 2005, and was Laboratory Director for Alameda County Public
Health Department 2004 to 2005. He served as laboratory Director for both counties during 2005. He served as Chief, Antimicrobial Resistance Section,
National Centers for Infectious Disease, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention from 1996 to 1997. Dr. Lancaster worked for over 15 years in the
medical device industry where he directed development of clinical microbiology diagnostic devices.
Dr. Lancaster holds a number of patents in the clinical diagnostic field, and has more than 20 scientific publications.
